Tennant Company: Old Company with New Ideas

The Opportunity

As a large 150-yr old global heavy manufacturer with many long-tenured employees, the new leadership team was struggling to drive engagement in their new global vision for growth.  While the new vision was consistent with industry market trends and promised to improve margins and competitiveness, this approach was initially seen internally as a radical departure from the past and inconsistent with the Tennant corporate identity.

Dart Solution

Dart worked directly with the senior leadership team to transform the vision from a confusing set of financial forecasts, reports, and charts to a compelling and relatable story designed to inspire everyone from leaders to assembly line workers to embrace their vision.  Working closely with senior leadership, Dart delivered a combination of audience insights, messaging strategy, presentation support, and 1:1 coaching and support for critical company-wide communications.

Outcome

By clearly mapping their vision for the future, Tennant leadership created a rallying cry for the employees to connect to and intuitively understand how the vision would unlock a new era for the company.  As the vision unfolded, innovation, simplification, and a focus on profitability took on a new energy within the company.  This also drove a marked increase in employee engagement in the vision and the company as a whole.
