Thomson Reuters: Enabling Change with Communication

The Opportunity

Thomson Reuters was going through two significant changes including a new strategic plan and a new purpose and vision. The employees were concerned about the changes they would need to make as part of the new plan and not sure what the need was for a new purpose and vision. As a result the employees were losing engagement.

The Dart Solution

Recognizing the complexity of the changes Thomson was facing, the Dart team created a structured communication system to provide clarity and comfort to employees.  Additionally, Dart provided advanced training for key leaders on consistently delivering the change messaging.  Built on a foundation of a consistent cadence and well-executed storytelling, the communications relied on a combination of clarity, transparency, and authenticity to reach internal audiences.

The Outcome

The Thomson Reuters employees were able to better understand and internalize the changes the organization was facing.  These changes became less of a distraction and source of anxiety as the team was able to recognize the purpose and opportunity inherent in the changes to come.  The leadership team also developed new communication skills that not only helped to make this communication effort successful but could also be leveraged to help them communicate with authenticity, empathy, and conviction in the future.
